"They taught us in school that moving is the most
traumatic event you can go through."

MICHAEL (Todd Courson)

Along with Todd, Quinn, and Erin (who were in grad school at Penn State when I was in my last year of undergrad), I self-produced SNAKEBIT as an unabashed labor of love. This experience reflects the mission I want to establish when I am, hopefully, the artistic director of my own theatre: trusted, gifted collaborators asking questions of each other (and the audience) about our collective, contemporary conscience. Without a playwright in the room, I focused on developing the past and present dynamic between these three characters - who's the 'monkey in the middle' in any given moment. I wanted to tell SNAKEBIT as the story of an ice cap melting: three best friends helplessly stranded on three separate blocks of ice that are careening out into the abyss in three different directions — How do you regain control of your individual destiny? Can you face your past in order to master your future? And can you accomplish this feat and still hold on to those beloved reminders of the past?
